Chile rolls into London
In the UK this Wednesday, retailers’ eyes, ears, noses and tastebuds will focus on Chile as the annual tasting rolls into London once again with as many as 40 winemakers and principals coming over to the UK for the event.
This year’s highlights include The Route to Sustainability seminar, hosted by leading researcher Professor Yerko Moreno from the University of Talca.
Meanwhile, the three focus tastings will feature Pinot Noir; organic, biodynamic and sustainable wines and 2009 winners – successful wines from recent competition results.
New partnerships seem to be one of the unofficial themes this year as Buckingham Schenk presents wines from its new partnership with Carta Vieja and McKinley Vintners will support its new (and second Chilean) agency Casa Tamaya and finally Grupo Cordoniú UK will showcase the wines from Nativa Eco Wines, the newly-established (as a separate) brand to the Claro Group portfolio.
Among the numerous new releases will be Pink Sin from MontGras, its new lighter-alcohol rosé as well as its new range of 2009 whites while Amaral will showcase its brand new Pinot Noir Rosé.
On the Great Western Wines table, Viña Leyda will introduce its new varietal, Syrah Canelo, to its portfolio of single vineyard wines. And at the Caliterra table, the new Tributo Sauvignon Blanc, which moved to Leyda for the 2009 vintage will be available to taste for the first time.
