Gastro meal deals

A number of London’s finest gastropubs are running significant food offers to tempt customers through their doors this summer.

King’s Road venue The Cadogan Arms is offering a 50% discount on food for those who book a table in advance until 30 September.

Having reopened earlier this year under the new ownership of Tom and Ed Martin, the pub aims to offer the best of contemporary British food. Try the pint of prawns with confit garlic and lemon, or the Adnams Broadside battered haddock with hand cut chips.

Alternatively, you might want to turn up with fresh brain cells at 7.30pm on a Monday evening, when The Cadogan hosts its weekly quiz night. For just a £2 per head entry fee, the winning team can enjoy a £100 bar tab.

South of the river, The White Hart on Kennington Lane is giving customers who spend £40 a free £10 voucher to spend in the pub during September.

Alongside its selection of real ales, fine wines and classic cocktails, the White Hart serves dishes ranging from rabbit, bacon and field mushroom pie to seared sea bream with chorizo, squid and tomato salsa.

For those looking for a deal in north London, The Compass in Islington is offering 50% off advance lunch bookings throughout August.

The newly opened pub uses its own home smoking, curing, pickling and bread baking methods to complement its British produce. With prices starting at £5, the menu includes crispy English pork belly, grilled sardines, or for veg lovers, a roast squash, pea shoot and goat’s cheese salad.

Whether you’ve been meaning to give one of these places a try, or just fancy a good value night out, there are more than enough good excuses here.
