db openings: The Parlour

This October sees the opening of The Parlour in Canary Wharf’s newly developed Park Pavilion.

The Parlour marks the second venue for privately owned bar group Drake & Morgan, which launched The Refinery on Southwark Street last year.

Offering a selection of premium spirits, a wide beer range, “skinny” cocktails and a wine list which features 40 options by the glass, the drinks menu is accompanied by an all day food service. With a focus on seasonal dishes as well as a fresh fish counter and oyster bar, the ingredients come from sources such as Neal’s Yard and the Flour Station in Borough market.

With the capacity for 650 people, there’s plenty of space for parties of all sizes, from cosy booths, to a cocktail lounge, wine room and mezzanine, which is available to hire for private events. Outside lies a 68-cover terrace, complete with warming fire pits, which leads onto Canada Square Park.

Expect a strong design influence here, as the owners have brought in Fusion Design and Architecture Ltd, the team responsible for The Refinery’s short-listing in the “Best Stand Alone Bar” category at the 2009 Restaurant and Bar Design Awards.

Concrete and contemporary furniture mingle with oak and plenty of natural light to create a sleek, modern venue in the heart of this urban regeneration success story.

Jillian MacLean, managing director for Drake & Morgan comments: “Drake & Morgan’s philosophy is to continue to provide contemporary customer-focused bars that deliver on cutting edge design, technology and operating systems as well as quality food and innovative drinks.”
