Black hole discovered in WSTA accounts

The Wine and Spirit Trade Association has launched an urgent investigation after the discovery of a £25,000 black hole in its 2008 financial report.

WSTA chief executive Jeremy Beadles told the drinks business: “These matters are the subject of ongoing legal investigation and we do not propose to comment further until enquiries have been completed.”

Beadles added: “The situation does not affect the ongoing financial viability of the WSTA or our plans in 2009.”

db understands that the funds will be recovered shortly.

The WSTA is the UK lobbying organisation for the wine and spirit industry representing over 320 companies producing, importing, transporting and selling wines and spirits.
