Monkey Shoulder Treehouse Bar opens at brewery

Quirky Scotch brand Monkey Shoulder invites you to the great whisky bar in the sky this summer. No, don’t panic, not that one, but The Monkey Shoulder Treehouse Bar.

After its launch at The Big Chill Festival in Herefordshire from 6-9 August, the pop-up bar will install itself for a further four days at The Old Truman Brewery in east London. 

Designed by the team behind trendy nightclub Mahiki, the bar is made entirely of wood and accommodates up to 40 guests, with additional outdoor seating. Board games such as Backgammon and Draughts have been carved into the tables, made from reconditioned whisky barrel heads. At night, the venue takes on a warming orange glow from the resin lanterns, designed in the distinctive shape of the Monkey Shoulder bottles.

From this lofty vantage point, customers can enjoy a range of contemporary whisky cocktails, including “Show Me The Monkey” and the “Monkey Mule”. Jamie Forbes, the Scottish brand ambassador for Monkey Shoulder, is on hand to provide expert mixology, aided by his serving team of Monkey Shoulder chimpettes.

The Big Chill bar will open from midday until 2am and is located in the Enchanted Garden enclosure. Once it moves to the Old Truman Brewery, on Hanbury St near Brick Lane, the bar will be open from noon until 9pm.
