db deputy up for top wine writer award

Jane Parkinson, deputy editor of the drinks business, has been shortlisted for the Champagne Writer of the Year award in this year’s Louis Roederer International Wine Writers’ Awards.

Jane joins a host of top names from the world of wine writing on the shortlist for the prestigious ceremony, which takes place on Monday 7 September at The Gherkin in London.

Her effervescent work with fizz over the past year impressed the formidable judging panel, which consisted of Simon Berry, the chairman of Berry Bros & Rudd Ltd; author, feature writer and wine columnist Victoria Moore; journalists Tom Cannavan and Andrew Jefford; and panel chairman Charles Metcalfe, co-chairman of the International Wine Challenge.

Jane said of her nomination: “It’s fantastic news and I’m delighted to have been short-listed for such a highly-regarded competition. Bring on 7 September!”

She is also joined on the shortlist by drinks business contributor Giles Fallowfield.
