Coffee shop expands and adds alcohol to offer

Following the news that Starbucks is to test drive wine and beer in its cafés, London coffee house Ca’puccino is already demonstrating the success of this approach. The luxury Italian coffee company opens its second store this week at Westfield Shopping Centre.

In addition to its selection of Italian regional delicacies, ice cream and expertly made coffee, Ca’puccino also offers wine as an alternative accompaniment to your panino. Italian of course, the current selection is provided by Piedmont producer Villa Sparina and features a Gavi de Gavi, Barbera and Brut sparkling white.
However, it’s the coffee that remains the real star of the show here. Extending far beyond the basic espresso or cappuccino options, this is the place to experience some considerably more creative specialities from around Italy. Examples include the “Caffé Bicerin” from Torino, an espresso made with dark hot chocolate and steamed milk; or the “Caffé al Tiramisù”, which combines espresso with Tiramisù cream and a Savoiardo biscuit.
Launched in 2005 by Giacomo Moncalvo, Ca’puccino has set up branches in Genoa, Rome, Florence and Milan, opening its first London store last year in Harrods’ basement.
