Port rosé on the rise
Several new Port rosés have been introduced in the wake of Croft’s pionneering launch of Pink last year.
Poças Pink is the latest addition to the emerging category, unveiled at Vinexpo Bordeaux this week. It follows this year’s Port rosé launches from Quevedo and Porto Cruz.
“There are now four rosé Ports in the market,” said Pedro Pintao, export manager for Poças, whose new product is aimed at northern European markets, as well as Canada and the US.
“I think there is definitely a market for rosé Port,” he continued, adding, “It’s refreshing and something new, which can be served over ice, or with tonic.”
Poças rosé Port was launched at Vinexpo Bordeaux (21-25 June) with a distinctive straight-sided bottle.
Port Cruz rosé Port was launched in the spring, followed by Porto Quevedo.
Croft Pink was launched early last year.
