J&B goes stratospheric

J&B has taken its party image to new heights after launching a mirrorball into the stratosphere.

Organised in collaboration with the Cambridge University Space Flight team, the mirrorball was lifted by a helium balloon high into the jet stream. After a travel time of nearly four and a half hours, it was photographed at a height three times the cruising altitude of a jumbo jet.

The stunt marked the latest instalment of the Scotch whisky brand’s global “Start a Party” campaign, building momentum for its next VIP extravaganza. On 20 June, J&B will host a party at a secret location in the depths of Transylvania. This follows earlier events at iconic sites around the world, including Beijing’s Forbidden City and Cappadocia in Turkey.

Commenting on the event, Louise Higgins, spokesperson for J&B, said: “Sending a mirrorball into the stratosphere for the first time shows the world and rest of the universe we know how to start a party anywhere, anytime…responsibly of course!”
