Noval move for Gonzalez Byass
Gonzalez Byass has acquired the UK agency for Quinta do Noval. The move forms part of the fallout from the closure of Paragon Vintners, which previously represented the Port house.
Jeremy Rockett, marketing director for Gonzalez Byass described the changeover as “a very smooth transition”, emphasising it was “business as usual” as Quinta do Noval unveiled its 2007 vintage to the UK trade yesterday.
“We put Port on our list 18 months ago, but didn’t think it was going to be easy, since so much of the Port business is tied up between two companies,” explained Rockett. “We’ve proved with Sherry that it’s not always the cheapest brands which are most successful,” he added, highlighting the benefit of Gonzalaz Byass’ existing relationships with key category buyers.
Quinta do Noval forms part of the AXA Millésimes portfolio, which includes several presitigious properties including Château Pichon-Longueville and Domaine D’Arlot.
