Alcohol Brands drops Halewood Int. legal action

Alcohol Brands has withdrawn its allegations against Halewood International in respect of its Out of the Blue and Pretty in Pink brands.

The move follows on from the Portman Group’s decision that Alcohol Brands’ products must be rebranded after the Independent Complaints Panel decided that the packaging and bright colours of the products would appeal to under-18s, particularly to young girls.

Earlier this year Alcohol Brands indicated that it was planning to take legal action against Halewood International over alleged similarities between its own products Baby Pink and Baby Blue Halewood International’s products, but Halewood today confirmed no action will be taken.

Richard Clark, Halewood International’s marketing controller, said: “It is unfortunate for Halewood International and its brands Out of the Blue and Pretty in Pink that Alcohol Brands chose to make public statements without any evidence to support its false claims.

“We are happy to put these false allegations behind us and move forward with the promotion of our exciting new products.”
