An optimistic outlook from Compass Box
Taking a cue from Monty Python, boutique Scottish whisky makers Compass Box are trying to help everybody look on the bright side of life, with a bottle of Optimism, which will be launched in London at Whisky Live.
The event takes place on 27 February in what the company is describing as “the spirit of recessionary cost cutting measures”, bottling will take place on-site and attendees will have the opportunity to purchase the first 170 hand-filled bottles.
Optimism is a vatted malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 44% ABV and available for £40. It is described as “a limited release whisky that will not be repeated before the next global recession”.
“The more that people are optimistic about the future, the faster we will pull ourselves out of this depressed economic state,” he said. “This is our small effort to try to help the world economy.”
In the UK, the Compass Box range includes: Asyla, Oak Cross, The Peat Monster and Orangerie, the whisky infusion. The limited-release range currently features Hedonism.
Compass Box Whisky Company was started by John Glaser in 2000, after he left his job as marketing director for Johnnie Walker in London.
