A new path emerges from NZ tasting
Pathway is a new label from Marlborough producer Winegrowers of Ara. A Pinot Noir and a Sauvignon Blanc, both 2008, were launched to the UK at January’s New Zealand tasting in London and will be available to the UK off- and on-trade.
The new label will be positioned below the brand’s Composite and Resolute ranges, the Sauvignon Blanc has an RRP of £7.99, while the Pinot Noir’s RRP is £9.99.
Both wines have been produced by Dr. Damian Martin, Winegrowers of Ara’s head winemaker and general manager.
"The English translation of the Maori word ‘Ara’ is actually ‘Pathway’," said Dr. Martin. "We chose this name for the range to illustrate the fact that these wines are the first step on the Ara path for the consumer."
Winegrowers of Ara was established in 2001. The 1,500 hectare vineyard, of which 385 hectares currently planted, lies at the confluence of Marlborough’s Wairau and Waihopai rivers on an extensive river terrace.
