Evoking the Mediterranean through wine
Couleurs du Sud is a new wine brand being launched in the UK by Southern French wine producer Skalli. The first varietal wines from the range, being positioned as "French Mediterranean", will be a Chardonnay, a Merlot and a Syrah Rosé.
The aim of the brand is to "fill a gap in the market" for a wine "that communicated the aspirational Mediterranean lifestyle," according to Marc Besson, brand manager at Les Vins Skalli.
The grapes for the wines are sourced from the Languedoc, Provence, the Southern Rhône and Corsica.
Winemaker Laurent Sauvage commented: "We use the most modern techniques available. I recently spent some time in Chile, where I was able to see and appreciate the latest winemaking techniques. A return to batonnage for reds, for example."
The wines, all of which are bottled under screwcap, have recently become available in Threshers, with an RRP of £5.99. The wines are imported by Thierry’s Wine Services.
