Hong Kong agrees pact with Bordeaux
HKSAR has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Wine-related Businesses with Bordeaux, in a further demonstration of its commitment to the wine industry. This follows the memorandum agreed with France in August to promote trade in wine.
The agreement covers cooperation in wine-related tourism, trade and investment promotion, the transfer of technologies relating to wine storage and manpower training.
As part of the agreement, signed by the secretary for commerce and economic development Yvonne Choi and Laurent Courbu, president of the Bordeaux Chamber of Commerce & Industry, a collaborative wine festival and a gourmet festival will be organized in Hong Kong next year.
Wine imports from France are up 116% in value since Hong Kong abolished wine duty in February.
