Cobra continues ambitious expansion
Cobra beer is expanding its British brewing and bottling operations in a bid to accelerate its rate of growth. The lager has signed deals with two new breweries as well as bottling specialists, Quinn Glass.
The new arrangements will see Cobra brew its original 5% Premium Beer at Camerons (draught and bottled), Wells & Young’s (draught) and one further contract brewer in the north west of England (bottled and in cans). Cobra will also brew under licence in Belgium with Palm Breweries. While Palm will have some responsibility for brewing Cobra 5% Premium Beer, their primary focus will be on brewing and bottling Cobra’s range of other beers – Cobra Zero %, Cobra Light, King Cobra and Cobra Bite. As of 31st July Cobra will no longer brew at Browar Belgia in Poland, which was acquired by SABMiller in August 2007.
“We’re really pleased to be working with Camerons and Quinn – they are two of the most highly regarded companies in the British drinks industry,” said Chris Edgcumbe Rendle, business development director at Cobra. “Together with Wells & Young’s and Palm, we now have an exceptional set of brewing partners that can support us and our ambitious sales growth targets in the next few years.”
