Carson leaves Constellation
Christopher Carson has stepped down from his role as Chairman of Constellation Europe Ltd and has been appointed as CEO of Gruppo Italiano Vini (GIV) with immediate effect.
Carson exclusively told the drinks business: “The time had come for me to move on to pastures new. I have known the company and the people at GIV for 30 years and it is a company with a long-standing reputation for quality. I believe that it is now time to really expand the Italian sector through category management.”
Group managing director Emilio Pedron commented: “The UK is an extremely important market for our wines and, whilst trading conditions are far from easy, we believe the time is right to invest and maximise the company’s potential. We are delighted to welcome Christopher to the GIV team. He has both the experience within the Italian wine industry and appreciation of the changing market conditions to drive our business in the UK.”
