Local wine at Tesco
Tesco is launching a limited range of English and Welsh wines. The five wines, which include a sparkling, red, rosé and two whites, will be available this month in selected outlets located near the vineyards. In the past year, Tesco has created eight regional buying offices, designed to source and support local farms and producers; these offices allow the supermarket to source local wines with limited availability.
The new range will include Wickham Celebration Rosé by Hampshire winery, Wickham. Retailing at £6.99, the wine will be available in 14 local Hampshire stores. Essex-based winery, Sandyford, has two new listings: Sandyford Clover Hill White and Sandyford Special Reserve Red, available at £8.60 and £8.99 respectively. Both of these wines will be available in 13 stores around the Essex and Cambridgeshire areas. Meanwhile in Sussex the Carr Taylor Estate has gained a listing for its Carr Taylor Alexis, which will be available at £6.95 in four stores in the Sussex area. Tesco will also be listing a sparkling wine from Welsh producer, Glyndwr, based in the Vale of Glamorgan. Its Glyndwr Welsh Sparkling will be available at £14.99 in four stores in Cardiff, Swansea and Carmarthen.
Tesco’s current English and Welsh range includes wines by Three Choirs, Chapel Down and Ty-Hafod.
