Godley vacates Tesco role

Tesco’s Jason Godley is leaving his position as wine category manager at the end of this month. Godley has been in the role for three and half years, and was senior buying manager for beer before that. Godley will be replaced by Andrew Carpenter, the current senior buying manager for beer.

Godley managed Tesco’s massive wine category review last year, effectively adding 300 wines to the retailer’s offering. Commenting on Godley’s departure, BWS category director Dan Jago commented: “Jason has made an enormous contribution, not just to Tesco’s wine business, but to the broader wine industry.”
Godley said: “I am sad to be leaving as I have enjoyed my time in wine immensely. However I am looking forward to a fresh challenge within our global business.” His new role will be to head up the group buying unit for the retailer’s relationship with Procter and Gamble.
Godley’s replacement, Carpenter, was a senior buying manager in wine before moving to the beer side of the business. His replacement as senior buying manager for beer is Thomas Otieno-Skaper, currently part of Tesco’s group sourcing team.
