Spar re-launch global wine range
Convenience store chain Spar has re-launched its Discoveries range, a collection of wines from around the world. The new lineup will be available in stores across the UK from March 2008 and all wines will have an RSP of £4.99 a bottle.
Spar wine buyer Gyles Walker commented: “Although Old World wines are continuing to hold their own in the wine market, the increase in consumption of New World wines means that consumers are becoming more open to buying wine by type rather than country of origin. My wine buying team and I have worked to create a range incorporating the consumer’s ever changing desire for contemporary wines, and we believe that the Discoveries range has achieved great quality wine at the right price.”
The Discoveries range has been re-launched with six new products:
• Sauvignon Blanc, Valle Central, Chile
• Shiraz, South-Eastern Australia
• Chardonnay, Robertson, South Africa
• Merlot, Robertson, South Africa
• Grenache, Vin de Pays d’Oc, France
• Cabernet Rosé, Vin de Pays du Jardin de la France
