Banrock Station turns to Tetra Pak
Banrock Station has launched a Tetra Pak version of its Shiraz and Chardonnay. Called The Ecomate, it is described as “a greener packaging option for environmentally-conscious wine-lovers”. The new format has been listed at selected Tesco stores and the one litre pack has a SSP of £6.49.
“The environment has always provided Banrock Station with its main point of difference so the launch of the Ecomate is a logical step forward,” said environmental manager of Banrock Station Australia, Tony Sharley. “The Ecomate will sit alongside the rest of the Banrock range and gives consumers another option when a glass bottle is not necessary.” A 75cl bottle of Banrock Station wine weighs 1,258g while a one-litre Ecomate weighs 1,033g. In like-for-like terms, the Banrock Station Ecomate is over 60% lighter.
77% of the Ecomate’s packaging is derived from renewable resources.
