New chief exec for Thresher Group
Thresher Group has announced the appointment of Yvonne Rankin as its new chief executive, replacing Roger Whiteside who has held the post since April 2004.
Rankin joins the company after two years with the international retailer A.S. Watson, where she was CEO of the company’s Central and Southern European Division.
Thresher Group owns 2,000 drinks retail outlets on the UK high street, including Threshers, The Local, Wine Rack and Haddows, Scotland’s largest off-licence chain. Rankin’s role is now to build upon the changes overseen by her predecessor in order to keep the company moving forward in a sector that faces stiff competition from supermarket chains.
Scott Greenhaigh, managing director of Vision Capital, which holds a majority stake in Thresher Group, thanked Whiteside for “providing a smooth transition to our ownership” and added, “We look forward to working with Yvonne Rankin in the next stage of Thresher Group’s development”.
