Ardbeg’s 4.5 litre bottle

The largest bottle of single malt whisky ever produced goes on sale today (01.08.07). Mór, produced by Islay distiller Ardbeg, is a 4.5 litre bottle of cask strength ten year old Scotch. Standing at over half a metre, Mór is named after the Gaelic word for “magnificent” or “mighty”. Each individually numbered bottle weighs in at 6.5kg.

Only 1,000 bottles have been produced, with an allocation of 250 bottles, at £350, available to the UK. Stockists in London include Vintage House, Harvey Nichols and The Whisky Exchange, while those in Scotland can purchase a mammoth bottle from outlets such as Royal Mile Whisky and Gordon & MacPhail.

This is also the first time that Ardbeg Ten Years Old is being released at cask strength – 57.3% ABV.
