Pierhead unveils Mexican beer
Mexicali, an authentic Mexican beer still brewed at the original brewery in Tecate, is now available in the UK. This German-style pilsner was first produced in 1923 at the Cerveceria Mexicana Brewery.
Mexicali will now form part of Pierhead Purchasing’s portfolio, which already includes a number of Latin beers, such as Brazilian Lokal, and Argentine Quilmes.
One of the founders of the Mexican brewery was a German master brewer, resulting in Mexicali’s distinctive style. Tecate is located near Mexico’s border to the US, and this has also contributed to this beer’s success in the region. The beer, available in 330ml bottles, will have an RRP of £2.50 – £3.00 and £1.10 – £1.50 in the on- and off-trade respectively.
