New head at Yvon Mau
Bordeaux négociant Yvon Mau is to appoint Philippe Laqueche as general manager. He will succeed Jean-François Mau when he steps down on July 16.
Laqueche comes from Holland where he was managing director of Michelin Euromaster. Prior to that, he held a senior marketing position at Bordeaux négociant Dourthe.
“I am excited to be returning to Bordeaux”, says Philippe, “and to a company that has always been one of the most visionary and proactive in the region.”
Yvon Mau was acquired by the Freixenet Group in 2001 and has announced a turnover of €96 million in the year to April 2007, an increase of 11% over the previous year. Sales are expected to rise to €105 million in the current year, boosted by the completion of a four year investment programme to modernise production and storage facilities at a cost of €15m.
“These are impressive figures and it is a great tribute to Jean-François Mau that the company has consistently grown during difficult trading conditions for Bordeaux as a whole,” says Pedro Ferrer, Freixenet’s CEO. “The targets for the next 12 months are ambitious but we are confident that Philippe Laqueche will develop Yvon Mau, building on Jean-François’s expertise and leadership.”
