Kiwi sparklers set to soar

As part of a move to broaden New Zealand’s wine offering beyond the much sought-after Sauvignon Blanc, and increase the market share and visibility of certain brands, more are moving into the sparkling wine sector.

Delegat's Wine Estates have intimated that the company is considering launching a sparkling wine under its Oyster Bay label; Pernod Ricard’s Montana, which launched a sparkling version last summer, is extending its UK line-up with the addition of a sparkling rosé, and sparkling wine label Lindauer, also owned by Pernod Ricard, is being repackaged – its new look will be unveiled in the UK towards the end of autumn. The latter brand is also adding a blanc de blancs to its range.

More information on New Zealand’s sparkling wine developments and plans for the future, whatever the style or varietal, will be included in August’s issue of the drinks business.
