Free Run turns to PET
Free Run Wines has launched a range of wines in 75cl PET bottles in the UK. The range, under the brand Amélie Latourelle, consists of eight French Vin de Pays varietals, all packaged in Bordeaux-style PET bottles.
This packaging not only has the advantage of being entirely recyclable, but is also cheaper to transport and distribute.
The wines for this range are sourced from La Fiée des Lois, part of France’s Intermarché Group, which has been bottling water in PET bottles for many years. “PET bottles open up new opportunities where plastic is preferable to glass,” comments Free Run Wines director Charles Elms. “We hope to develop this opportunity and are always keen to support the development of eco-friendly forms of packaging.”
The Amélie Latourelle range (RRP £3.99) consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay, Merlot, Shiraz, Cinsault Rosé, Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Muscat. Free Run Wines has plans to launch a number of other ranges in PET in the near future.
