Changes at Chile’s Chadwick
Andrés Barros has joined Chile’s Chadwick Group as new managing director for Caliterra, Seña and Arboleda, and Rodrigo Millán has been appointed as marketing director for the same brands. Barros has 12 years experience working in both the Chilean and Argentine wine industry. He will report directly to the board of directors in his new role. Millán, who will be report to Barros, has over seven years experience in the Chilean wine industry.“This new management structure makes me confident that the strategy behind each brand will be successfully implemented worldwide,” said Eduardo Chadwick, owner and president of the Chadwick Group.
Hatch Mansfield is the UK distributor for the Caliterra range from Colchagua, while Select Vineyards is responsible for Seña and Arboleda wines in the UK.
De Sours selects ex-Sainsbury’s wine buyer
Independent wine expert and former trading director at Sainsbury’s, Allan Cheesman, has been appointed non-executive director by Bordeaux rosé specialist Château de Sours.The privately owned château produces around 40,000 cases of wine each year and has ambitious growth plans.“It’s a very exciting time for Château de Sours. We have invested significantly in both the winery and the château and we are very pleased to have Allan on board,” said proprietor Martin Krajewski. “The wealth of experience and market knowledge he brings to the board will certainly help us, as we aim to double our production over the next five years.”A recent e3.5 million programme of extensive renovations has recently been completed at the château, including the installation of a cookery school that will open this summer.
“For many years I have been impressed with the wines from Château de Sours, particularly the exceptional rosés,” says Cheesman. “I am delighted to be working with the new team here and look forward to helping build on their history and success to take the Château de Sours wine brand into the future.”
Kumala man joins UK brewer
Britain’s Wadworth Brewery has appointed Paul Sullivan as marketing manager.Sullivan is a well-known figure in the UK drinks trade, most recently managing ex-Western Wine’s South African wine brand, Kumala. Prior to that he worked across Lindemans and Penfolds – Southcorp’s Australian wines portfolio.His appointment by Wadworth sees Sullivan switching to the beer side of the industry, working on a range of brands.
“I have been surrounded by the drinks and hospitality business nearly all my working life, beginning my training with Matthew Clark before going on to spend many happy and successful years in the wine sector. My experience of having worked with many leading brands will, I’m sure, pay dividends in my new role at Wadworth,” said Sullivan.

Domaines Listel has appointed Jeremy Dunn as UK account manager. Dunn was formerly account director for Australian Evans & Tate Wine group, working on its UK and European business.Fiona Morrison MW has become an associate of Christie’s wine department. She is married to Jacques Thienpont, a wine négociant and owner of Pomerol property, Le Pin. James Brewster will succeed Colin Wheeler as chief executive of the Licensed Trade Charity in September 2007.
Bacardi’s global travel retail division has appointed Aude Rocourt as travel retail director for Asia-Pacific.
Starwood search for CEO
At the beginning of April Starwood Hotels announced that its CEO, Steven Heyer, had resigned. Heyer was appointed CEO in October 2004; before that his career included senior and board level positions in many organisations, including Coca-Cola and the Turner Organisation. He is currently an independent director of Lazard and in the past has been a director of Internet Security Systems, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Equifax and WPP. While the search is on for a new CEO, Bruce Duncan, the current chairman, will also serve as interim CEO. Duncan joined the board as an independent director in 1995 and was appointed independent chairman in May 2005. He was previously chairman/president/CEO of Cadillac Fairview Corp between 1995 and 2000, where he led the post-bankruptcy turnaround of this real estate company. He then moved to become president/CEO of Equity Residential, the largest publicly traded REIT in the US. In addition to these real estate roles he has also been a director of Rouse and Cousins Property as well as several private finance companies.As previously announced, John Cahill, the executive chairman of Pepsi Bottling Company, resigned at the end of March and was replaced by Barry Beracha as non-executive chairman. In addition, it was announced towards the end of March that two board members would not stand for re-election at the AGM; these are Thomas Kean and Clay Small. Kean is a highly distinguished public servant and director who led the Independent Commission that reviewed the September 11 attacks on the US. He is also a director of Franklin Resources, CIT Group, UnitedHealth and Hess and joined the Pepsi Bottling board in 2004. Small is currently managing attorney of PepsiCo and joined the board in May 2002.
Two new candidates have been nominated for election to the board at the AGM, Javier Teruel and Hugh Johnston. Teruel is a vice chairman of Colgate-Palmolive and an independent director of Starbucks whereas Johnston is PepsiCo’s executive vice president of operations.
