Special bottling off to a flying start
Ardbeg Almost There went on sale on Monday, with 111 bottles selling in the first two hours. Only 1,500 bottles of the nine year old Islay malt were produced.
The Moët Hennessy-owned distillery has produced a series of younger bottlings since it was purchased by Glenmorangie over nine years ago. As Ardbeg ten year old is the distillery’s signature expression, this is yet to be produced under the new ownership. These limited-edition bottlings demonstrate the development of the spirit, as well as providing an idea of the characteristics of the ten year old that will be released next year. Promoted via Ardbeg’s “Committee”, this whisky is bottled at 54.1% abv and has an rrp of £31.99 from Oddbins and independent stores.
