New red from Quinta do Noval
Port producer Quinta do Noval has entered the dry red wine business, launching two unfortified wines from the 2004 vintage. The range consists of two wines: a grand vin entitled Quinta do Noval, and a second wine called Cedro do Noval. The Port producer has been involved in extensive replanting, and production of dry wines has been a consideration in this.
The blend and techniques used to make these wines has taken ten years to perfect, and include four traditional Port varieties. These wines are not likely to become the producer’s only offering, according to managing director Christian Seely, who promises that the producer “will never forget our primary mission to produce great vintage Port”. Available from Paragon Vintners, the wines will retail at £32 and £10.99 respectively.
