Jimenez new CEO for Efes

IN january Efes Breweries International announced that the chairman and chief executive, Ahmet Boyacioglu, would retire on the first of February 2007 and would be replaced by Alejandro Jimenez. Mr Boyacioglu joined the Efes organisation in 1973 and served in various positions before being appointed a division president responsible for strategy and business in 2000 and chairman of Efes Breweries International NV in May 2005. In August 2005 he moved from being chairman to chairman/CEO, having been appointed a director of Efes Sina Yatirim Holdings in June 2005.

Since 2001 Mr Jimenez has been a management consultant for consumer goods companies in Mexico. Prior to that he was president/COO of PanAmerican Beverages (a Coca Cola bottling subsidiary that was delisted in 2003), having joined the firm in July 1991 as vice president and served as well as president of Mexican operations. Before PanAmerican he was a division VP of Coca Cola, having served as a director of marketing to 1990. 

At the end of the year Martin Evans stepped down from the post of finance director and secretary of La Tasca and was replaced as finance director by Matthew Powell. 

Mr Evans started with La Tasca as finance director in 1997, having previously worked as a senior manager in audit, acquisitions and disposals with Arthur Andersen. In October 2001 he added the position of company secretary to his portfolio and joined the board in February 2002. Mr Powell was previously financial controller for La Tasca and prior to that he had been a senior manager at Deloitte & Touche.

January also saw the promotion of Chris Moore to deputy CEO of Domino’s Pizza UK and Ireland. Mr Moore joined Domino’s Pizza Inc as European marketing manager in 1990 from McCann Erickson Inc, where he had served as an accounts director. In 1993 he was appointed director for sales and marketing of Domino’s Pizza UK & Ireland, to the board in 1999, and COO in 2005.
