Name change for Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries
Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries intends to change its name to Marston’s PLC early next year. This is as a result of the company’s expansion over the past few years, making it a national business, with 2,352 pubs in England and Wales, as well as three breweries. The name will also apply to the company’s various divisions.
Chief executive, Ralph Findlay, added that the name change "will also enable us to promote more clearly to our customers across the whole business our traditional values and the product and service quality associated with the Marston’s brand." Other divisions whose names are to change are Pathfinder Pubs and The Union Pub Company, that will become Marston’s Inns and Taverns, and Marston’s Pub Company, respectively. The name change is now only dependent on shareholder approval on 8 January 2007.
