BUSINESS: APPOINTMENTS – Drinks man gets TFWA top job
Olivier Charriaud has been named as the new CEO of the Tax Free World Association. He joined the travel retail trade association last month, just prior to the World Exhibition in Cannes, the biggest date in the industry calendar.
The appointment is good news for drinks companies in the trade – Charriaud has a CV that is firmly focused on the wine and spirits sectors. He will work alongside long-standing TFWA president Erik Juul-Mortensen, who works for V&S Group.
Charriaud, who is French, has wide international experience, predominanlty in sales and marketing roles. His previous companies include United Distillers (pre-Diageo days), Moët Hennessy Distribution and, most recently, Rémy Cointreau Group. During his time with RC he assumed a number of positions, including global marketing director for Cointreau.
As CEO of the TFWA he will oversee a host of conferences and exhibitions including the World Exhibition in Cannes, the Asia-Pacific show in Singapore, and the MEDFA conference in Dubai.
He succeeds Andrew Ford, who left TFWA in May to join the DFS retail group.
