On-Trade News: Bacardi’s capital cocktail

London cocktail competition, Capital Cocktail, returned to the city last month, with more than 145 bars competing.

Like last year, consumer participation is central to the judging process. Vouchers in the Evening Standard entitled consumers to a free cocktail in one of the bars, after which they could vote for their favourite cocktails via text message. In this way, a shortlist of 12 finalists was produced. The winner, decided by a panel of judges, will be announced in October.

Bars could enter any cocktail, provided it made use of a product in the Bacardi Rum range. The winning bar will receive £10,000 worth of marketing spend, as well as £500 worth of staff vouchers.
