Retail: Majestic plans new openings
Majestic is planning to massively increase the number of stores it operates in the UK. Tim How, chief executive of the wine
retailer told the drinks business that he expects the 129-strong group to expand to 175 outlets by 2010, but he hopes that figure will reach between 200 to 230.
The wine warehouse chain, which was originally founded in 1980, would have to open well over 10 more stores each year to reach those targets.
Majestic is also planning to increase sales through its website, as well as grow its fine wine offering. It plans to resite certain stores over the next few years.
