Majestic customers trade up
Majestic has succeeded where others have failed: the UK’s largest wine warehouse chain has managed to get consumers to spend more on wine.
The retailer, which reported a 10.7% year-on-year rise in operating profit earlier on this week, said that the average bottle price of still wine purchased at Majestic rose from £5.51 to £5.59, while the average spend per transaction has risen from £113 to £118.
The company opened six new stores in the year ended 27 March and plans to open more in the future. Tim How, company CEO, says, "We believe Majestic is in a strong position to continue to expand market share with a potential for 200 UK locations. We see good potential for the future growth of Majestic".
