HWCG looks to Neqtar for Sweet Success

A new global drinks company was lanched this month, the result of HwCg’s aquisition of SDS, an Australian-based fruit and vegetable distributor.

Neqtar will be headed by Guy Young (pictured), who remains managing director of HwCg.

Jim Furze, commercial director at HwCg will become Neqtar’s chief operating officer and SDS managing director David Stevenson will continue to run the Australian arm and sit on the board.

“We are very excited about Neqtar and the opportunities that will arise,” said Young. “It will allow us to grow the portfolio and offering to our customers, in both the multiple and independent sectors. It provides a business model for us to emulate in the future, where we are able to control the product from vine to shelf.”

Young said developing new Australian wine brands from the Robert’s Estate Winery, would also be a “priority”.  db April 2006
