Coors and Burton united
For those among us who are not football fans the news that The Brewers, aka Burton Albion, drew with the mighty Manchester United in the FA Cup may not inspire the delight it does in other circles. For Burton-based brewer Coors, however, there was cause for a double celebration.
For those among us who are not football fans the news that The Brewers, aka Burton Albion, drew with the mighty Manchester United in the FA Cup may not inspire the delight it does in other circles. For Burton-based brewer Coors, however, there was cause for a double celebration.
Firstly there was the element of local pride as the team took on one of the world’s best known teams, but the brewer was also cheering the signing of a new three-year agreement with the club. The deal ensures that Coors will continue to supply all the beers available at Burton’s new home ground (the Pirelli Stadium) and the brewer has put its name to one of the stands in the new facility.
“We have a great trading relationship with Burton Albion, which we have developed,” said lifelong Albion supporter and Coors account manager for the club, Simon Appleby (pictured left). “Let’s hope The Brewers continue to go from strength to strength!” db February 2006
