Business Appointments – Feb 2006
News on appointments at Stolichnaya, Maxxium UK, The Scotch Whisky Association and Brintex
Vincent Gillet has taken up the role of global brand director for Stolichnaya. A well-known figure in the frenetic world of Champagne marketing, Gillet moved over a year ago from LVMH, where he looked after Moët, to Allied Domecq, to take on Mumm and Perrier-Jouët. Following the Allied takeover, Gillet was offered this new position within the Pernod group. “It is with much sadness that I will be leaving the wonderful and vibrant world of Champagne,” he says. “However, vodka is on the move, it is the world’s fastest moving drinks category.”
Maxxium UK has taken on mixologist Andy Gemmell to work with Wayne Collins in the company’s brands mixology team. Gemmell, who is 27, has run a number of bars in his home town of Glasgow.
The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) has appointed Douglas Meikle to be its alcohol policy manager. Meikle, who previously worked in the SWA’s European affairs department, will be responsible for developing initiatives for promoting responsible drinking. He replaces Fenella Nicholson.
Brintex, organiser of the London International Wine & Spirits Fair (LIWSF) has enlarged and altered its team. Joanna Sturdy joins as sales manager, while Anna Campagnoli and Will Broadfoot have been promoted.
