Brito takes over as InBev CEO

This month’s significant management move was the change in CEO at InBev (formerly Interbrew) of Belgium. Carlos Brito has taken over from John Brock

This month records fewer director changes and trades compared to last, no doubt related to the holiday season. Apart from the change at the top of Coca-Cola Enterprises (cited last month as an announcement for the year end), the other significant management move was the change in CEO at InBev (formerly Interbrew) of Belgium. Carlos Brito has taken over as CEO from John Brock; Mr Brock, a former COO of Cadbury Schweppes, had been CEO since February 2003. Mr Brito, a Brazilian citizen, was formerly regional president of InBev North America.

The company also announced that its chairman would change in May, with Dr Pierre Everaert (the incumbent since April 2001) being replaced by Dr Peter Harf. Dr Harf has been independent director of InBev since April 2002.

Director trading was also subdued during the end of 2005 but there were several significant trades. Notable were those of Summerfield Johnston III of Coca-Cola Enterprises, who exercised over 200,000 options and traded some 106,000 in early January. Over 12,000 options were also exercised by WL Kiely III, president, Molson Coors; these options were sold the same day.  db February 2006
