Consolidation in Champagne close to completion
The latest news from Champagne suggests Bruno Paillard of Boizel Chanoine Champagne is finally on the verge of signing a deal with Lanson.
The latest news from Champagne suggests Bruno Paillard of Boizel Chanoine Champagne (BCC) is finally – after a somewhat lengthy bidding process – on the verge of signing a deal with Lanson.
If the acquisition goes ahead, BCC will take on Lanson International and its stock of 53 million bottles. However, BCC will also end up with around €440m of debt from the troubled Champagne producer.
Lanson International was formed when Marne et Champagne bought the Lanson brand from LVMH in 1991. The company includes Lanson, Bellefon and Gauthier labels as well as a number of buyers’ own brands. BCC, headed by Bruno Paillard, owns Chanoine, De Venoge, Philipponnat brands, as well as Champagne Bruno Paillard.
