Independant family-owned distillers William Grant & Sons Ltd has announced the appointment of Steven Sturgeon as the new global brand director for the company’s flagship brand, Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch whisky. Sturgeon will report to CEO Roland van Bommel.
“With his wealth of marketing experience on global brands,” says Roland van Bommel, “Steven will drive the marketing strategy for Glenfiddich. His appointment comes as we focus efforts on building the value and equity of our portfolio of brands by strengthening our marketing resource within the business.”
Sturgeon worked for seven years at Diageo across a number of senior international roles including brand director for Guinness. Previously, he has worked as director of marketing strategy and new media for National Magazines as well as for the advertising group Ogilvy & Mather where, as senior account director, he worked on the Seagram International account which included strategic work on the Glenlivet and Chivas brands. eight years.
