Those happy folk at the Co-op are celebrating the fact that Australia is the UK’s favourite wine producer by giving away 15 holidays to Australia through a competition on neck-tags on selected wines, and the red and white wines of the month are from down under (September 12 to October 2). Co-op own-label Australian Lime Tree Merlot is down £1 from £4.49 to £3.49, while Oxford Landing Sauvignon Blanc is reduced by £2 from £5.49 to £3.49. Meanwhile, for those feeling virtuous it’s Organic Week from September 3-11, and the Co-op is offering two popular organic French wines at reduced prices for between August 22 to September 11. Co-op own-label French Organic Merlot/Syrah and Chardonnay/ Sauvignon are both £3.99, down from their usual price of £5.29.

From South Africa, Stormhoek Sauvignon Blanc, Porcupine Ridge and Wolf Trap Boekenhoutskloof are all on the same promotion while the Obikwa range are all on a three for £10 instead of their usual prices, ranging from £4.39 to £4.59.

At the same time Chilean wines are receiving some promotional attention with Errázuriz Estate Shiraz 2004 Aconcagua Valley, Max Reserva Chardonnay 2004 Casablanca Valley both 25% off at £4.49 and £5.99 respectively, while Gracia Merlot/Mourvèdre Reserva Superior 2004 Maipo Valley is £1.50 off at £4.99, Cono Sur Merlot Reserve 2003/04 Colchagua Valley is £2 off at £4.99 and Mont Gras Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah Reserva 2003/04 Colchagua Valley is down from £6.99 to £5.24.
