Report points finger at wine producers
"How the on-trade works."
Pubs, bars and restaurants have called on the wine industry to meet their needs in a report entitled "How the on-trade works."
Published by Wine Intelligence, the paper points out that major pub and bar chains are planning to upgrade their wine offers as part of a strategy to target higher value consumers, while restaurants and hotels are determined to make their lists much more profitable.
However, leading on-trade buyers interviewed for the report, warn that wine producers and intermediaries need to improve their service, develop better consumer understanding and address the specific needs of the on-premise to assist in its attempt to increase wine sales, as well as boost margins.
