Top Indian closed after rats found
IT WAS a case of embarrassment all round at one of Birmingham’s top Indian restaurants last month as environmental officers closed it down after discovering an infestation of rats and mice.
However, the management at the Broad Street restaurant had put a notice on the window claiming the closure was due to a "major electrical breakdown".
A spokeswoman from the environmental services department said: "Shimla Pinks was closed because the restaurant posed an imminent risk to health".
Last year Shimla Pinks, which is owned by millionaires Maninder and Mandeep Kholi, staged a high-profile relaunch with celebrities such as David Ginola, Noddy Holder and UB40.
Subsequently the restaurant has reopened as specialists were called in to clear up the rodent problem.
