Football star Paul Pogba removes Heineken bottle from view at Euro 2020 press conference

Pogba put in a man of the match display in France’s much-anticipated opening heavyweight clash with Germany, though made headlines for his actions in the post-match press conference as well as his on-pitch prowess.

Pogba appeared to be echoing football megastar Cristiano Ronaldo’s actions from a day prior. Ronaldo, practically the poster boy for health and good looks, dealt a damning blow to soft drink giant Coca Cola when he removed a pair of glass bottles from in front of him during a press conference.

After putting them out of sight, the 36-year-old Portugese forward held up a bottle of water and proclaimed “drink water”.

According to sports news site The Athletic, Ronaldo’s stunt wiped an astonishing $4 billion from the company’s market value.

Flash forward 24 hours, and Paul Pogba was replicating the stunt, this time with a bottle of Heineken beer.

Pogba does not drink alcohol due to his Muslim faith, several news outlets have reported. A video shows the French midfielder removing a Heineken bottle from sight during a post-match press conference following his nation’s 1-0 victory over Germany. Heineken is the official beer partner of Euro 2020.
