The wines of Istria come to Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s new dining concept, Red Door Dining Lab, will host a two-night feast highlighting the little-known region of Istria in Croatia with renowned chef Željan Peloža.
From 19-20 November, Hong Kong’s diners will discover a former part of the country, Istria at Red Door Dining Lab – Hong Kong’s answer to a supper club.
Now part of Croatia, Istria’s relatively unknown cuisine will be presented by one of the region’s best-known chefs Željan Peloža who will create prosciutto with truffles, and handmade pasta as well as speaking through the wines all of which come from Istria’s differing terroirs including the international varieties of Syrah, Chardonnay and Muscat as well as the rather hotly contested “native grape” of Teran.
Organiser and Red Door founder, Matthew Aylmer said: “The wine is impossible to find in Hong Kong and most other parts of the world as it’s mostly kept for regional consumption but we’re shipping in some just for the event! With ingredients brought in from Istria, this promises to be a real feast and a great opportunity for Hong Kong to find out about this rather unknown region.”
Tickets prices are HK$799 for Red Door members and $999 for non-members with wine pairing being an additional $350. For more information and to book, please visit the Red Door Dining Lab website.
