More Angélus, Mr Bond?
Bond may be known for Martinis and Bollinger, but Right Bank estate Angélus is apparently his new preferred drink on trains.
A still from the latest Bond film Spectre, showing a bottle of Angelus on the left.
In his first outing as the suave super spy, Daniel Craig’s Bond memorably had a bottle of Angélus while discussing watches on the train to Montenegro with his on screen partner and love interest Vesper Lynd – played by Eva Green.
In the latest Bond movie, Spectre, a bottle of Angelus can be glimpsed in the dining carriage of the train that Bond and his latest flame Madeleine Swann (played by another French actress, Léa Seydoux) are travelling on before (SPOLIER) a huge fight breaks out.
Despite being something of a blink-and-you’ll-miss-It moment in comparison to the Saint-Emilion property’s scene-stealing role in 2006’s Casino Royale (and why aren’t you looking at the far more arresting image of Seydoux/her dress anyway?), it does beg a number of questions; namely, has Bond discovered that Right Bank Bordeaux is the perfect match with French girls?
His creator Ian Fleming was extremely particular about the perfect drink, the perfect woman and so on, so perhaps the franchise’s current owners are simply carrying on the tradition?
