Scots invited to explore Chianti Classico and Prosecco

The promotional bodies for Prosecco Conegliano-Valdobbiadene and Chianti Classico – two of Italy’s most important and imported wines to the UK – have joined forces to host a tasting in Edinburgh.

The trade and press tasting will take place in Edinburgh on Tuesday, 7 July, and will feature a walk round tasting and series of masterclasses exploring two of Italy’s most important regions; Chianti Classico and Prosecco.

Organised in collaboration with the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico and the Consorzio del Vino Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, 27 producers are set to show their wines, split 60/40 between the two regions, with seminars presented by Tom Bruce-Gardyne, wine journalist, author and self-proclaimed “Italophile”.

“Tasting Chianti Classicos, at least from Radda and Panzano, last week I found a purer vision of Sangiovese than ever before”, said Bruce-Gardyne. “Gone is that hefty dollop of Cabernet or Merlot, or those sweet wood tannins from new barriques. While best of all was the chance to taste older vintages to appreciate how well these wines can age. I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts with the trade in Edinburgh next Tuesday.”

Below is the schedule of Seminars:

11.30 hrs – Seminar 1 | Prosecco Superiore
13.15 hrs – Seminar 2 | Chianti Classico
15.00 hrs – Seminar 3 | Prosecco Superiore
16.30 hrs – Seminar 4 | Chianti Classico

Several producers are currently seeking representation in the UK. To view the exhibitor list visit www.huntandcoady.com, or to register your attendance and reserve a place at a seminar email Tina Coady at tina@huntandcoady.com

Details: Tuesday, 7 July; 10:30am to 6pm; Balmoral Hotel, 1 Princes Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2EQ
