Innis & Gunn launches 50 Shades beer
Scottish brewer Innis & Gunn has released a beer infused with ginseng and other aphrodisiacs ahead of the launch of the film adaption of Fifty Shades of Grey.
The limited edition ale, 50 Shades of Green, blends 50 different types of hops from around the world, including sorachi ace from Japan and pacific jade from New Zealand, both of which are hailed for their lemongrass notes.
In addition to the 50 hops, the beer contains ingredients known for their sexually stimulating properties, including ginseng, which is said to boost sexual desire; ginkgo biloba, a herb said to get blood pumping; and damiana, a nerve stimulant.
Just 200 bottles of the “performance enhancing” pale ale have been made and will be available for pre-order on the company’s website for £30 a 330ml bottle.
“We had a lot of fun making this beer, doing things that have never been done before in brewing, much like couples all over Britain will be doing behind closed doors once they’ve seen the film,” said Innis & Gunn CEO Dougal Sharp.
According to its makers, the “mellow” beer boasts “a full body, intense flavour and seductively spicy aromas” offering notes of “grapefruit, lemongrass and passion fruit”.
The palate meanwhile, offers “rich and biscuit malt sweetness” and a “lingering finish”.
